The 7-day, 10-day, and 14-day Cyclades route options every charter principal should consider before booking — anchorages, restaurant reservations, optimal months, and which yacht size actually fits the islands.
The Cyclades archipelago — Mykonos, Paros, Naxos, Ios, Santorini, Sifnos, Folegandros, Amorgos — is the highest-demand Aegean charter destination for international HNWI clientele. It is also the route where the gap between a good charter and a forgettable one is widest, because demand pressure in July-August creates anchor traffic that experienced captains route around and inexperienced captains don't. This guide covers what actually matters for a Cyclades charter in 2026.
Optimal months
Late May to mid-June: 22-26°C sea temperature, low anchor traffic, restaurants taking reservations easily. The connoisseur's window. June 15 - July 15: peak temperature climb, building demand, still manageable. Mid-July to end August: full peak season, anchor permits required at most prime anchorages, restaurant tables booked 8-12 weeks ahead, Meltemi winds (north-east, sustained 25-35 knots) make western Cyclades passages uncomfortable some afternoons. Mid-September to mid-October: shoulder season returns to manageable density, sea temperature still 23-24°C, golden-hour light photographs better than peak summer haze.

7-night Cyclades Classic — anchorage breakdown

Day 2 Mykonos: dawn arrival Delos archaeological harbour (limited to 60 minutes private anchor), 11:00 transfer to Mykonos main port, Nammos beach club lunch (Psarou beach, pre-book at minimum 6 weeks ahead in summer), Scorpios sunset dinner (Paraga beach, dress code enforced). Day 3 Paros: Naoussa harbour for breakfast, Antiparos transfer for blue caves snorkel, lunch at Beach House Antiparos. Day 4 Ios: Skarkos archaeological site morning, Manganari beach south coast lunch, sunset at Mylopotas. Day 5 Santorini: caldera anchorage Oia side, sunset dinner at Selene or Lauda restaurant (book 12 weeks ahead). Which yacht size actually fits the Cyclades
30-40m yachts: ideal. Slip into Naxos, Mykonos, Paros, Ios main ports, anchor close to shore at Antiparos, Manganari, Folegandros. Tender accessibility 5-10 minutes to all beach clubs. M/Y Naia (38.5m, 2.1m draft) is positioned exactly here.
40-55m yachts: good for Mykonos, Paros, Santorini caldera (deeper anchorage), but require longer tender runs at Antiparos and Folegandros (15-20 minutes). Some marinas refuse berth above 50m in peak season.
55-80m yachts: limited to deep-water anchorages only. Tender runs 20-30 minutes to most beach clubs. Marina berths require advance arrangement and often only Santorini, Mykonos new port, and Naxos main port accept.
80m+: exceptional Cyclades charter requires careful planning. Anchorages limited to caldera Santorini, deep-water off Mykonos new port, Naxos south bay. Many famous Cyclades anchorages (Kalafatis, Super Paradise mooring zone) cannot accept vessels above 80m.
The sweet spot for Cyclades-focused charterers is the 35-45m range. For groups of 10-12 guests, M/Y Naia (10 guests max) is the upper limit of the 'no-compromise' size category. For larger groups (12 guests), M/Y Eternal Spark (49.95m, 12 guests) sits at the edge of the sweet spot — slightly more tender time at some anchorages but otherwise full Cyclades access.

Restaurant pre-booking — the 12-week rule
Top Cyclades restaurants book 8-12 weeks ahead in summer 2026. Selene Santorini (caldera-view fine dining), Lauda Santorini (modern Greek, the principal's first choice for celebrations), Krites Antiparos (rooftop), Spilia Mykonos (cave dining, two seatings only), Sa Stivà Naoussa (terrace lunch). Mogul Yachts handles all bookings inside the APA envelope — you tell us the names you want, we coordinate dates as the itinerary firms.
Anchorage permits — what's changed for 2026
Greek authorities have implemented stricter anchor permits in the Cyclades following 2024-2025 anchor damage to Posidonia seagrass meadows. Affected: Antiparos Apantima bay (now buoy-only mooring), Mykonos Kalafatis bay (designated swim zone, no anchor), Folegandros Karavostasi (anchor permit required 14 days ahead). The captain's office handles all permits for charter clients; broker brief should include 'anchor permits handled' as a line item.
